Privacy policy
Sightlume is a **free matching service**, not a clinic or medical provider. This page explains what contact details we collect, how we use them, and the choices you have.
What we collect
We keep this simple. When you use Sightlume to get matched, we collect contact details only so we can help connect you with licensed eye surgeons for a consultation.
We may collect:
- your name
- phone number
- email address
- ZIP code
- preferred language
- which procedure you are curious about, such as LASIK, PRK, SMILE, ICL, or lens/cataract surgery
We do not ask you to send us medical history, prescriptions, health records, or exam results. Please do not share medical details with us through forms, email, or text.
Sightlume does not perform surgery, diagnose eye conditions, or tell you what procedure is right for you. Any information on our site, including pages about candidacy and the exam, is general education only, not medical advice.
How we use your information
We use your contact details to run the matching service and communicate with you.
That can include:
1. contacting you about your request
2. helping match you with one or more licensed ophthalmologists near your area
3. sharing your contact details with participating surgeons or their staff so they can offer a consultation
4. sending basic service messages, such as follow-up about your match request or language preference
5. improving how our website and matching process work
We do not sell your medical records because we do not collect them in the first place. We also do not need sensitive health information to start a match.
If you go on to have a consultation, any medical questions, eye measurements, risks, and candidacy decisions happen with the surgeon's office, not with Sightlume. Surgery is a serious medical decision. Results vary from person to person, and every procedure carries real risks, including dry eye, glare or halos, under- or over-correction, infection, flap issues, and rare vision loss. Only a licensed eye surgeon, after an in-person exam, can tell you whether you may be a candidate.
Who may receive your details
We share your contact details only as needed to provide the free matching service.
This may include:
- participating eye surgeons or their staff involved in scheduling or follow-up
- service providers that help us run the website, forms, email, text, or customer support
- legal or safety authorities if required by law
Participating surgeons pay Sightlume a flat fee to take part in the service. Matching is free to you. You are not required to book, attend a consultation, or choose surgery.
You stay in control. You can compare consultations, ask questions, and decide who you trust. It is always OK to wait, get another opinion, or keep wearing glasses or contacts.
Your choices
You have options about how we contact you and what happens next.
- You can ask us to stop calling, texting, or emailing.
- You can ask what contact details we have for your request.
- You can ask us to update or delete your contact details, subject to basic recordkeeping needs.
- You can choose not to submit a form at all and simply read our educational pages, such as how to choose an eye surgeon.
If you contact a surgeon directly after being matched, that office will have its own privacy practices too. We encourage you to read them before sharing medical information.
This page is plain-language information, not legal advice or medical advice. Sightlume is not a medical provider, and only an in-person exam can decide candidacy for vision-correction surgery.
Sightlume only collects basic contact details so we can help you connect with licensed eye surgeons for a consultation. We do not collect medical history, we are not a medical provider, and only an in-person exam can decide candidacy, costs, risks, or whether surgery is right for you.
